American Copper butterflies have orange-red forewings with black spots. Its hindwings are gray. The underside is gray with a row of orange-red zigzags.

Its wingspan is 1 inch.

American Copper butterflies live in pastures, landfills, fields and rocky places. They can be found from North Dakota to Georgia.

Host Plants: sheep sorrel, curled dock

Nectar Plants: buttercup, white clover, yarrow, ox-eye daisy
